Jailer (2023)

Masala Meter 5/5 · Quality 7/10 · Tamil · Action, Comedy

A retired jailer, a mild-mannered grandpa, a Thalaivar-sized secret.

Muthuvel Pandian is a quiet retiree who does the dishes and gets teased by his grandson. Then his cop son crosses an idol-smuggling gang, and Rajinikanth gets to remind everyone why he is who he is.

Nelson's dark humour keeps it fun, Vinayakan is a fine villain, and the star cameos in the last act are pure fan service. Kaavaalaa was everywhere for a reason.

Where to watch in India: Prime Video, Sun NXT.
