Laapataa Ladies (2024)

Masala Meter 3/5 · Quality 9/10 · Hindi · Comedy, Drama

Two brides, one train, two veils, and a very wrong turn.

On a crowded train, two newly married brides in identical red ghoonghats get swapped. One young husband brings home the wrong wife, and the other bride is left alone on a station platform. Kiran Rao turns that mix-up into a warm village comedy.

It says sharp things about how women are treated without ever lecturing, and the comic timing (hello, Ravi Kishan's cop) is spot on. Short, sweet and easy to recommend to anyone.

Where to watch in India: Netflix.
